How often do internal audits need to be conducted under ISO 9001?
The standard does not prescribe a fixed frequency; it requires audits “at planned intervals”. The audit programme is based on the importance of the processes, on changes and on the results of previous audits — in practice, many companies audit every area at least once a year.
