New module: KPIs and quality objectives
Every certification standard demands measurable objectives – ISO 9001 in clause 6.2, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 by analogy for environmental and OH&S objectives. The auditor does not only ask whether objectives exist, but whether they are monitored and what happens when they are missed.
In practice these objectives often live in a spreadsheet that is dug out once a year for the management review. The new module KPIs and quality objectives brings them to where your audits, actions and the management review already are. You will find it in the sidebar under “Management system”.
One objective, one target, one rhythm
Every objective gets a short title, a description of how the value is determined, and a target with a direction: at least (on-time delivery ≥ 95 %), at most (customer complaints ≤ 3 per month) or exactly. You choose the unit freely – per cent, pieces, days, hours.
Add to that the recording rhythm – monthly, quarterly or yearly –, a responsible person and, if you wish, a process and a site. Without a site the objective applies company-wide; objectives of a site are visible only to its users. The program assigns the number itself (Z-2026-01) and creates the periods of the target year at the same time.
Enter the actual value, read the traffic light
On the detail page there is one row per period with target, actual, traffic light and comment. You enter the actual value – it is saved as soon as you leave the field. The program works out the traffic light:
- Achieved (green) – the actual value meets the target,
- At risk (amber) – the target is missed, but the value is within the tolerance,
- Missed (red) – the value is outside the tolerance.
You define the tolerance band per objective as a percentage of the target. If a period has a different target – during a ramp-up phase, for example – you override the target for that period only. And in the comment you record why a value deviates: “supplier bottleneck, sheet metal” is worth more in the management review than any figure.
The overview shows all objectives with the current actual value, traffic light and recording progress (“8 / 12”). Quick filters with counters – active, achieved, at risk, missed, no actual value, closed – show at a glance where something needs doing.
The management review fills itself
The real gain shows once a year: the section “Achievement of objectives” of the management review is now filled automatically from your objectives – number of objectives in the period, of which achieved, at risk and missed, with a comparison to the previous period and a trend arrow. Below that, every objective is listed with actual and target; one click jumps straight into it.
Your job remains the assessment: set the traffic light, put it into context and, if needed, record a decision as an action. The retyping is gone.
Close objectives – and keep them as evidence
At the end of the target year you close an objective with a closing note, for example the result and the consequence for the following year. Closed objectives remain available under “Closed” – as evidence for the certification auditor and as a template for the new year. An objective closed by mistake can simply be reopened.
The module is available to all companies; you assign the permissions in the permission matrix, and company administrators have them automatically.
